Veneering a tooth means to cover its facial (front) surface. Veneers are used to enhance the shape and color of teeth by closing spaces between teeth. Veneers may be used cosmetically to resurface teeth such as to make them appear straighter and possess a more aesthetically pleasing alignment. This may be a quick way to improve the appearance of malposed teeth without need to use orthodontics.
Placement of porcelain veneers is one that requires the skill, precision, and artistry of a talented cosmetic dentist. Having your smile made over with veneers usually takes about three office visits. In the first visit, Dr. Simkha will plan your new smile by determining the size, shape, and type of veneers that will best complement your smile, face shape, and desires. Next, she will carefully prepare the teeth and place temporary veneers to protect the teeth while the permanent version is crafted in the dental laboratory. When the permanent veneers are ready, you will return for your third visit to have your permanent veneers placed. The final step is when you leave the dentist’s office with a brand new, beautiful smile.
